Choosing a character for Innova

Your character choice affects how quickly you finish objectives, handle chases, and support your team in Toons Universe. You begin with both Weffle and Nimbus, so you can try two Agents before spending any Malachor. Finding a comfortable playstyle starts with understanding their tradeoffs.

The playable characters are called Agents. In Toons Universe by Toon Shenanigans, you explore Innova, a biotechnology facility left dangerous after a catastrophe. Your assignment involves recovering resources, while survival depends on completing tasks and managing encounters with hostile creatures called Infecteds.

Every Agent has 16 points distributed across five stats, plus an active ability and a passive ability. Each stat receives at least one point and can have up to five. That shared budget makes the distribution important: having more points in one area leaves fewer available elsewhere.

Playable Agents and unlocks

The Agent directory lists the following characters. Weffle and Nimbus are available when you start; the other listed Agents require Malachor purchases. The final column shows the Emblem associated with reaching level 100 on that Agent.

AgentStarting availabilityLevel 100 Emblem
WeffleAlready unlockedChipmunk

Guido and RossumPurchase with MalachorSnake
FizzlePurchase with MalachorLizard
DiscardPurchase with MalachorDolphin
CopperPurchase with MalachorDragon
PhantasiaPurchase with MalachorUnicorn

Guido and Rossum appear together as one Agent entry. Treat that paired name as a single selection when comparing the roster.

Before spending Malachor, inspect the Agent's current hiring details in the game. Avoid assuming that every character shares one price or that a price mentioned for an unnamed character applies to the entire roster.

A practical way to narrow your next purchase is to:

  • Identify your recurring difficulty. Decide whether you need help traveling, surviving chases, finishing tasks, or supporting teammates.
  • Read both abilities. An attractive active ability may have conditions that matter to your usual group.
  • Check the stat distribution. Consider what you give up alongside the strengths you gain.
  • Look at the level 100 reward. An Emblem can give you a longer-term reason to level a particular Agent.

Copper illustrates why those checks matter. Players in a community discussion about Agent purchases describe her as mobile, with strong speed and stamina, but poor sanity and weaker task stats. They also describe her shield as targeting a teammate. Those player observations suggest a character worth considering for mobility and team support, while highlighting drawbacks to examine before buying.

Agents also have skins available for Malachor or Robux. Skins can be applied in the lobby and during gameplay, and some belong to coordinated sets, including the Sunset skins. Appearance can help you choose a favorite, alongside the mechanics you enjoy using.

Understanding the five character stats

The five stats cover different parts of a run. Hacking and Extracting govern separate objective types, while Speed, Sanity, and Stamina affect movement and survival in different ways.

StatWhat it affectsRelevant item or condition
SpeedHow quickly an Agent movesWaffles temporarily increase movement speed
SanityHow long an Agent can remain under chase pressure before penalties beginSocks replenish sanity
StaminaHow long an Agent can sprintCoffee reduces stamina consumption
HackingProgress speed on computer tasksMints temporarily improve hacking
ExtractingProgress speed on machine tasksGloves temporarily improve extracting

Sanity and stamina work together, but they are separate resources. Sanity drains while a roaming Infected has aggro on you, with Infected Selena listed as an exception. When sanity runs out, your maximum stamina begins falling and can eventually reach zero. Your screen also darkens, making an already dangerous chase harder to manage.

This means a large stamina reserve does not automatically solve every chase problem. An Agent can have plenty of sprinting capacity under normal conditions and still lose access to it after prolonged sanity depletion. Pay attention to the chase itself instead of watching only the sprint bar.

Stamina also responds to environmental conditions. Gas leaks increase stamina consumption and slow regeneration. Waffles can speed up regeneration, while coffee helps reduce consumption. Those effects address different sides of stamina management, so the most useful item depends on what is limiting you.

For objectives, distinguish computers from extraction machines. A Hacking boost helps with computer progress; an Extracting boost helps with machine progress. When choosing an Agent or using a temporary item, match the benefit to the task you intend to perform.

Level 100 Emblems and character builds

Reaching level 100 with an Agent unlocks that character's Emblem. Emblems are permanent items equipped at the beginning of a run, and you can equip up to two simultaneously. They provide bonuses to stats, abilities, supplies, or other mechanics.

Agent progression also awards two stickers through playing and leveling that character. Emblems are especially relevant when planning a build because their effects influence what happens during a run.

These Emblems focus on supplies, stamina, healing, and escaping pursuit:

EmblemUnlock requirementEffect
ChipmunkLevel 100 WeffleCompleting an objective gives a waffle if an inventory slot is free
SheepLevel 100 NimbusReduces stamina consumption by 25%
TadpoleLevel 100 TeipoIncreases stamina regeneration by 20%
BearLevel 100 PatcherEvery five floors, provides a healing item if space is available: 75% bandage chance, 25% med-kit chance
LizardLevel 100 FizzleInfecteds stop pursuing 20% sooner after you break line of sight
UnicornLevel 100 PhantasiaCompleting an objective gives a 15% chance to restore missing health

Inventory space matters for Chipmunk and Bear. If your inventory is full when their rewards would arrive, you do not meet the free-slot condition. Plan your supplies around that requirement when using either Emblem.

The Tadpole Emblem's listed effect is increased stamina regeneration. Its former effect, which increased the team's maximum stamina by 15%, has been replaced. Keep that distinction in mind when comparing builds discussed in older community posts.

The remaining listed Emblems affect objectives, abilities, and protection:

EmblemUnlock requirementEffect
SquidLevel 100 SquiddleStarts extractions with 25% progress
BatLevel 100 SelenaIncreases hacking and extracting speed by 15%
FishLevel 100 KoiObjective completions reduce ability cooldown, up to a 25% reduction
SnakeLevel 100 Guido and RossumStarts hacking with 25% progress
DolphinLevel 100 DiscardPicked-up items that boost hacking or extracting have 60% greater effect
DragonLevel 100 CopperGrants a shield like Copper's ability every other floor, starting on floor 1

Choose Emblems around a specific goal. Bat plus Squid combines faster task progress with an extraction head start. Sheep plus Tadpole addresses stamina spending and recovery. These are suggestions based on the listed effects; their usefulness depends on your Agent and what happens during the run.

Conditional bonuses deserve special attention. Unicorn offers a chance to heal after objectives, so it cannot guarantee recovery when you need it. Dragon follows a floor schedule. Dolphin depends on finding relevant boosting items. Understanding the trigger helps you avoid relying on a benefit before it becomes available.

FAQ

Which toons universe character do you get for free?

You receive Weffle and Nimbus when starting the game. Both are already unlocked, so there is no need to purchase one simply because you tried the other first. Other Agents in the listed roster require Malachor purchases.

Does every Agent have the same stats?

Every Agent has the same total budget of 16 stat points, but the distribution varies. Points are allocated among Speed, Sanity, Stamina, Hacking, and Extracting, with each stat ranging from one to five. Active and passive abilities also distinguish characters.

How do you unlock and equip Emblems?

Level an Agent to 100 to obtain its associated Emblem. You can equip up to two Emblems at the beginning of a run. Check their conditions carefully: some work continuously, while others require objective completions, particular floors, suitable items, or free inventory space.

Should you buy a new Agent immediately?

Trying both starters first gives you a practical basis for comparison. Notice whether chases, travel, computer tasks, or extraction machines cause the most trouble, then use that experience to evaluate purchases. A character suited to your preferred activities is a more useful goal than buying one solely because another player favors it.
